The netting used to make these bags and accessories can be found among the debris of a construction site or among the bait on a dock, for protection or capture. Dense, resistant, light, a humble, ductile and beautiful material, it is the essential ingredient for all the accessories made by Smateria, a social enterprise founded in 2006 by two Italian women in Phnom Penh. It is a production reality that shows daily attention to the social reality in which it operates, entrusting the processing to local girls, after having trained them with training courses. The project also created a company nursery, connected to the workplace, for the children of the artisans. The products benefit from an Italian design, but are sewn by the expert hands of Cambodian seamstresses. RAM, an Italian fair trade importer, has been promoting Smateria creations in our country for many years.
